Apple: Apples are the ideal fruit to eat at any time, to help achieve balance of nourishment. Their skin may be green, yellow or reddish, and the meat taste ranges from a bitter to sweet flavour. It is one of the most popular fruits in the world. There is a great amount of varieties so that, apples are available all the year round.
Apricot: The apricot is a fruit that resembles the peach but much smaller, pale yellow or orange with some red shades. The pulp is not very juicy, it has fibre texture and starchy consistency when the apricot is mature. It is mainly eaten fresh, although it is also used to make some by-products like stewed fruit, jams, juices and dried apricots.
Banana: The banana is a long, yellow fruit, found in the market in bunches of three to twenty fruits, similar to a triangular cucumber, oblong and normally yellow. Its flavour is more or less sweet, depending on the variety.
Blackberry: The blackberry is a wild plant, in general, of which we eat the fruits, very aromatic and somewhat acid small berries of black colour. They are eaten raw, although they are also used for making stewed fruit, fruit salads, cakes, etc. They are rich in vitamins and minerals. They also supply fibre and are low in calories.
Blackcurrent: Blackcurrant is a berry of translucent pulp with red or green tones and bittersweet taste. The fruit is small, black-blue colour and rounded, with an intense taste when completely ripe. The berry is covered with hair and its pulp contains multiple small seeds. These fruits grow in clusters.
Cherry: The cherry is a fruit that is eaten fresh or in cakes, mousses, jams and fruit stews. The larger cherries are usually the ones with better taste and texture.
Gooseberry: Gooseberry is a white, yellow, red or green berry according to the species, with a thorny, hairy or smooth skin. The different varieties are distinguished from each other by the time they ripen, taste, colour, size, shape of the fruit and the way in which it is eaten. The most outstanding is the yellowish fruit with hairy skin, although there are also varieties of reddish, pale whitish green and dark green skin.
Grape: The grape is a fruit that grows in tight clusters. It has a white or purple flesh of sweet taste, eaten raw or in juice, although it is chiefly used for making wine. They are also used to make preserves. It contains various minerals and vitamins, and it is considered to be antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic.
Grapefruit: The grapefruit is a round fruit, slightly flattened, with a pale yellow or reddish smooth or rough skin. It is eaten mainly as fresh fruit, and has numerous digestive, stomach and antiseptic qualities.
Kiwi: Kiwi is an oval shape, of variable size and covered with a brown fuzzy thin skin. The flesh may be of different shades of green according to the variety, tender, juicy and bittersweet. It has multiple small black edible seeds. The colour of the pulp and its delicate taste resembles that of the grape, the strawberry and the pineapple, and this makes it a very pleasant fruit.
Lemon: The lemon is rounded and slightly elongated citrus fruit. The pulp is pale yellow, juicy and with an acid flavour; it is divided in gores. The skin is yellow and specially bright when it is ripe. It is used fresh for cooking, and its juice is used in the industry for processed foodstuffs. For the pharmaceutical industry it is the raw material for many medicine manufactures, and at home it is used for different homemade remedies.
Mango: Mango comes from the mango tree! It is oval in shape, has non-edible rind and variable colour, from pale yellow to dark red. The pulp is sticky and its colour ranges from yellow to orange. The taste of ripe mangoes is sweet and quite acid when still green. It is a juicy and fibrous fruit, with a stone inside.
Melon: Melons are rounded or elongated, with yellow or green rind, sometimes combined depending on the variety. It has an aromatic, juicy and sweet flesh, being an ideal fruit to fight thirst.
Orange: Round orange fruit, eaten mainly in winter. Its flesh is also orange and is formed by small bags full of juice. The orange is eaten when fresh and for the industry used mainly in juice.
Peach: The peach is a round, coloured, juicy fruit, typically eaten in summer. Many countries produce peaches, so we can eat this fruit all throughout the year. It is eaten when fresh and for industry, specially tinned.
Pear: The pear is a fruit that has expanded all over the world; it is eaten both fresh and cooked, and is available all throughout the year. There are multiple varieties cultivated, ranging in shape, size and colour.
Pineapple: Mature pineapples have a very distinctive fragrance, a beautiful colour and pleasant bittersweet taste. It is eaten raw or as an ingredient in juices, preserves, liquors, etc. Both the fruit and the leaves are used to prepare medicinal compounds.
Plum: The plum is a stone fruit, rounded or elongated that can be yellow, green, red or purple. In general, it is very nutritious and rich in vitamins, specially vitamin C. It is more or less juicy depending on its water content. In the market there are other products processed with plums, such as jams, juices and liquors.
Raspberry: The raspberry is the fruit of the raspberry shrub or bramble. This plant grows wild in several regions of Europe, although it is also cultivated, becoming quite an important crop.
